MEET THE FOUNDER

A professional lens, a lived life, and room for the truth.

Teri L. Busse

Professional perspective meets lived experience.

Teri L. Busse spent more than 25 years working in emergency medicine. She understood trauma professionally long before she had to understand it personally.

After making the decision to remove her husband from life support following a motorcycle accident, navigating addiction and sobriety, and later enduring the murder of her 21-year-old son, Rylee, Teri learned that surviving an event and living with everything that follows are two very different things.

She went on to become an author, podcast host and advocate, using both professional knowledge and lived experience to create honest resources for people navigating grief, trauma, depression, addiction, frontline exposure and major life disruption.

Rooted in Resilience was created to help people understand what may be happening, find language for their experiences and identify a realistic next step, without forced optimism, clinical performance or pretending the past did not happen.

The approach

Tell the truth with care. Make the next question easier to ask.

Plain language

Complex experiences deserve clear words. The goal is useful information without clinical performance or forced optimism.

Lived experience

People may respond differently to the same kind of event. Contradiction, numbness, anger, humor, and slow change all have room here.

Useful next questions

A resource should help you know what to read, what to ask, or where to look next—not tell you what your life means.

Room for rebuilding

Resilience is not pretending nothing happened. It is making room for what is true, what has changed, and what can still take shape.
